  2. Hi Steve,

"We give becuase of love" Yes, finally someone has said it publically - so cool - and so freeing. Tithing is old covernant. We are in a time of grace, and we give because we want to, and we want to because we have Christs nature within us.

  3. Hi Steve,

"We give because of love" Yes, finally someone has said it publically - very cool. Tithing is old covernant and we are in a time of grace, and we give because we want to, and we want to because we have Christs nature within us - yes, it feels so freeing.

I've found this ministry and a few others like it a real oasis in a world full of religiosity.

  6. Thanks for this video Steve!
Spot on! I've looked into the whole tithing 'controversy' over the last few years and agree with where you're coming from. Paul never taught tithing, Giving yes- but not tithing - and when Jesus mentioned tithing to the Pharisess it was in the context of the Pharisee wanting to justify himself under law. When Jesus ratified the New Covenant through his death there is no more tithing law. And Yes, Malachi 3 is a greatly abused passage in many churches today....A lot of O.T tithe is grain but i don't see churches pouring grain into their buildings! LOL!
    anyway, thanks again

  7. One slight edit, Steve. I was raised in the Church of Christ (though I'm not a member now). I never found one of the denomination's congregations to preach tithing. In fact, there was almost a pride that it wasn't taught. Given that, I wouldn't describe tithing as "universal" in Christianity today. However, I observed something about the Churches of Christ and giving that is just as great a concern. Specifically, it is very common to hear I Cor. 16:1,2a read to urge members to give every Sunday. If that's to be taken literally today, I've wondered what's happened to all of that money that should have been stored up? Paul says he is coming to collect the contributions from the congregations and take them to the believers in Jerusalem who are suffering as a result of poverty and famine (I Cor. 16:2b,3; Acts 24:17; Rom. 15:25,26). My point is that it isn't just the OT scriptures on this topic that are being ritualized into contemporary Christianity; NT scriptures are also being interpreted in such a way as to turn giving into a ritualistic behavior. Ironically, Jesus said our giving should be "in secret" (Matt. 6: 1-4). Hmmm . . . now there's an interesting idea you don't hear preached!

  8. Thanks, Skip. I didn't know that anybody didn't teach it these days. You make a good point about how even NT passages can be (and often are)twisted on this topic. Thanks for the input.

Few Christians understand the full meaning of GRACE (UNMERITED & UNEARNED FAVOR) even fewer are taught the differences in Old Covenant and New Covenant. When Jesus saved you you were given God's favor. Jesus Paid in full for you to have access to go to God for what you need.
I heard Pastors say God does not change but they are misquoting that too. God's character and attributes of who He is does not change but his methods sure do. Otherwise if God's methods did not change most Christians would be stoned to death for eating Pork roast and not obeying the Sabbath (from Fri. eve, till Sat. eve rest from all activities). They say tithing predates the Mosaic law well so does Sabbath and Circumcision of male infants ( which should be done on their 8th first birthday). Christians would also have to keep the Jewish Feast and Holidays but I suspect most don't pay attention or know when they all are. I may not have had a course in logic or critical thinking but it never ceases to amaze me how little logic some Christians use. If you are not keeping all 613 Mosaic laws why would you not question how they can push just one? (MAINLY TITHE PAYING).
How can Christians be redeemed from the curse of the law, according to the New Testament in Gal.3:13 and still be cursed for not keeping the tithe law? It is impossible to be both cursed and redeemed from the curse (in Malachi 3). Christians read your own bibles and wake the heck up! Jesus is the sum and fulfillment of the law for us. Romans 10:4 Christ is the end of the law for righteousness for every believer.
Next time you look at Matthew 5:17 & 18 Jesus said he did not come to abolish the law but don't leave out BUT TO FULFILL. And not one jot will pass from the law don't leave out the word UNTIL ALL HAS BEEN FULFILLED. But and Until are key words! There is not one verse that mandates tithing after Jesus went to the cross. As for the blessings of Abraham Gal.3:6 Abraham believed God and it was counted as his righteousness. Gal.2:16 ...by works of the law for flesh shall be justified. The Jews had the law to keep for justification. Christians now have Jesus and the Holy Spirit and leads & guides us into all truth, so we have the better covenant. Hebrews 8:13 Said the Old Covenant is obsolete and fading away. Hebrews 8:7 Said if the first covenant had been faultless there would be no need for the second. Christians need to learn the differences in the Old and New Covenants and all that Jesus fulfilled and exactly what He meant by Paid in full.
I'm thankful for gracewalkministries shedding such a bright light of understanding.
