I both laughed and felt like crying watching that! - that was well done though - the way it represented alot of the cliches done all over the world on a weekly basis.
Reminds me of why i haven't been involved in the IC for quite a while - the sense of a pre packaged plastic approach to life it seems to eminate - as if God can be put into a box on a sunday etc...
Having said that i don't want to come off us 'us and them' in reverse..... God is with believers whether they meet in a building, home or the local park,or whatever - just in my case i am unable to tolerate much of the 'theatre' that is often what many church services are. It can be a plastic representation of the christian life and can cause alot of desperate people to feel afraid to come out and show their real pain - cos they get the message that they're always meant to 'appear happy'.
I went to North Point for 4 years... and THAT was funny. It says "North Point Media" but I can't find out if they really made it themselves or not. Either way, dead on... I never could really accept the idea of other churches trying to copy the "church model" that is "working" in upper class Atlanta as the glorious wave of the future.
One of the other videos on their same Vimeo channel is of Andy preaching. That's why I assume it's them. I love how they laugh and have fun with things over there :)
I loved this video when I first saw it too! North Point does an amazing job with this stuff. While there is definitely truth within the sarcasm - as a pastor I also am committed to the fact that the movement of the Holy Spirit is just as present in the planning process of our worship gatherings as He is in the live experience. I am definitely ripping this one off for a series on the Church that I'm planning for this Fall. Thanks for posting this, Steve...
