This topic reminds me of another similar topic to this lie - "God loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life!" ...This has often been said in many churches i've been to. The implication tends to be that once one becomes a christian then everything will go well in life - eg circumstances, work, family etc...but i love how you refer to joy being more important...Paul and Silas had great joy when locked in prison for example.
I am also reminded of a few years ago at a church i was at. I happened to be in deep thought at the back of the church and someone came up to me thinking i was unhappy and seemed upset that i wasn't smiling, yet at that moment i was enjoying a deep revelation that gave me deep joy. I may not have been smiling but deep within joy was welling up, which shows that the outside does not always represent the inner person.
Thanks again Steve, and i can't wait til this comes out in book form!
Great post Steve!
